PMR Asset Acquisition and IMSA Expansion
Hanley Motorsports has expanded its sports car racing footprint by acquiring the assets of Paul Miller Racing to mount a multi-class, BMW-supported IMSA programme starting next season. After previously announcing that Hanley Motorsports Incorporated (HMI) had partnered with DXDT Racing for a 2027 IMSA campaign, team owner Robert Hanley confirmed the purchase of former PMR equipment, including two GT3-specification BMW chassis, while integrating former PMR personnel into the unified organisation.
Leadership Structure and Management Appointments
The operational setup unites key leadership figures from both organisations under the HMI banner. Longtime Paul Miller Racing team manager Mitchell Simmons has been appointed team principal of the new outfit, resolving uncertainty he had voiced during the summer regarding PMR's future. He is joined by former DXDT program manager Bryan Sellers, who takes up the role of racing director. The appointment reunites Sellers with Simmons and former PMR crew members with whom he claimed IMSA GTD driver championships alongside Madison Snow in 2018 and 2023.
Executive Transition and Programme Realignment
Under the agreement, DXDT owner David Askew will serve as an advisor, confirming that the DXDT team banner will become inactive for this phase. Clark Condrey completes the five-person executive group as chief financial officer, arriving after nearly eight years with software company Adobe. Hanley, an alumnus of Porsche Carrera Cup North America and Porsche Sprint Challenge competition, also confirmed he has stepped away from his LMP2 partnership with Bryan Herta Autosport and PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports to focus entirely on the expanded IMSA venture.
Multi-Class BMW Campaign Across IMSA Categories
On track, the squad will campaign BMW M4 GT3 EVO machinery across IMSA's GTD Pro and GTD divisions, while fielding at least one BMW M4 GT4 EVO in the Grand Sport class of the Michelin Pilot Challenge. The GTD Pro entry effectively succeeds PMR's championship-winning effort from this season. A BMW GT4 delivery is anticipated ahead of a planned two-car joint round in the Pilot Challenge next year.
Shop Facilities and Long-Term Outlook
The team will initially run out of PMR's former workshop in Buford, Georgia, before relocating late next year into a newly constructed facility located in Flowery Branch, Georgia. Hanley explained that the venture represents the culmination of his ambition to compete at North America's highest level, while Simmons noted that Hanley has assembled key personnel from both squads for an extensive push in 2027 and subsequent seasons. Askew reflected that following two years spent building a solid foundation in the series, the partnership represents the appropriate step forward. Sellers added that moving into this managerial scope aligned with his goals when transitioning toward leadership in late 2024, expressing excitement at reuniting with Simmons and facing top-tier competition.
