Max Verstappen has confirmed that Red Bull is planning substantial changes for its 2027 car, following the United States Grand Prix where technical limitations on the RB22 interrupted a streak of consecutive victories. After claiming back-to-back wins in Malaysia and Singapore, Verstappen had to settle for a lower result in Austin as the car struggled with several problems and shortcomings across the Circuit of the Americas weekend.
Speaking to media outlets including RacingNews365, Verstappen explained that the team had encountered a few minor issues throughout the race weekend and had actively worked to address them. During the grand prix itself, Verstappen experienced complications with engine braking, which generated handling and balance difficulties under deceleration and consequently increased tyre wear on the RB22. Verstappen stressed that the primary objective is to learn from those setbacks, work to resolve the issues, and ensure more trouble-free running in future races.
Red Bull introduced its final major upgrade package of the season in Azerbaijan, with the majority of the Milton Keynes operation's design and development focus already shifting toward the 2027 challenger. Both Verstappen and the squad acknowledge that there remain plenty of areas requiring improvement, and personnel at the Milton Keynes factory appear to be working hard to address the car's existing weaknesses.
Looking ahead to the 2027 project, Verstappen emphasized that the team still intends to revise many elements of the design. He expressed hope that these adjustments will help the car function better as a whole, noting that this ambition has been a target for a long time. While acknowledging that significant progress has been achieved during the current campaign, the four-time F1 champion emphasized that the squad is still "far from satisfied enough," confirming that a considerable number of modifications will be introduced for next year.
