Monochrome GT4 Australia heads to Sandown Raceway for the concluding round of its campaign, bringing a 30-car field representing seven distinct manufacturers to decide all three class crowns at the Shannons SpeedSeries GT Festival from October 30 to November 1. Competitors will tackle a schedule featuring two practice runs on Friday, qualifying sessions on Saturday morning, and a pair of one-hour sprint races split between Saturday and Sunday.
Silver Cup Title Fight
In the Silver Cup, Method Motorsport driver Tom Hayman aims to secure his third championship in just the third season of standalone GT4 competition. After claiming his 2024 and 2025 titles alongside Carrera Cup competitors Marcos Flack and Max Geoghegan, Hayman shares his cockpit this year with Jett Murray, the younger brother of Supercars driver Cooper Murray. Their main opposition comes from South Australian pairing Blake Purdie and Supercars rookie Jobe Stewart in the lone Audi on the grid. Stewart and Purdie were sidelined by mechanical trouble at the Phillip Island curtain-raiser, but clawed back into contention with a victory at The Bend Motorsport Park, sitting 42 points adrift entering the finale.
Miedecke and Tracey in Pursuit
A further three points back in third position are veteran George Miedecke and rookie Blake Tracey in their Ford Mustang. Miedecke narrowly missed out on the title across the previous two seasons alongside Rylan Gray; having recorded a best finish of third so far this season, the Mustang pairing enters the final event with an outside opportunity to challenge for the crown on a circuit expected to suit their machinery.
Close Battle in Silver-Am
The Silver-Am Cup arrives at Sandown as an exceptionally close fight, led by former TCR drivers Zac Soutar and Glenn Nirwan. The duo hold a slim two-point advantage over Ryder Quinn after scoring their maiden victory in the opening race at Sydney Motorsport Park, while Dean Campbell sits in third position.
Walker Controls Am Cup Advantage
In the Am Cup division, Gomersall Motorsport's Glenn Walker holds a 16-point buffer over Method Motorsport contenders Chris Lillis and Nathan Callaghan. The two outfits have exchanged the class lead throughout the season, though Walker enters the decider having missed the class podium only once all year.
Craggill Transitions to GT4 Machinery
Several notable driver additions feature across the Sandown entry list, led by former motorcycle racer Marty Craggill transitioning to four wheels alongside Tom Sandow in a Team Soutar Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman RS CS. Craggill earned consecutive Australian Superbike titles in 1997 and 1998, logged over 40 starts in WorldSBK, and contested 250cc and 500cc Grand Prix races during the 1990s. Sandow made his track debut 18 months ago before stepping into state-level competition at Sandown and Phillip Island earlier this year.
Field Returns and Category Debuts
The grid also sees returning regulars and fresh pairings. Defending Silver-Am champion Jason Gomersall rejoins Aaron Seton after missing the Sydney event, where recent Aussie Racing Cars champion Anthony Di Mauro substituted. The second Multispares Racing entry retains Toyota GR Scholarship winner Tyler Collins alongside Adam Gowans following their debut in Sydney. Elsewhere, former Carrera Cup racer Harrison Goodman makes his series debut alongside Jarrod Keyte in the #21 Ford Mustang, moving the car into Silver-Am after Keyte ran solo in the Am ranks. Goodman enters the event after two seasons in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, ahead of a potential full-time GT4 Australia campaign in 2027.
Weekend Schedule and Broadcast Details
Track activity commences on Friday, October 30, with practice sessions scheduled for 11:40am and 2:30pm. Saturday features consecutive qualifying segments at 11:10am and 11:35am, followed by a public grid walk at 2:25pm and Race 1 at 2:45pm. Sunday's program concludes with a second grid walk at 12:20pm before Race 2 begins at 12:45pm, with qualifying and both one-hour races broadcast live on Fox Sports and Kayo.
