Aldeguer Sidelined for Sepang Following Hand Surgery
Fermin Aldeguer will miss Round 19 of the 2026 MotoGP season at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia as he continues his recovery from hand surgery. The Spanish rider remains sidelined following an injury sustained during the Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika, extending his wait for a return to track action.
Mandalika Crash and Hand Fracture Details
Aldeguer, racing with the #54, crashed out of podium contention during the Sunday race at Mandalika. The crash resulted in a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal bone in his right hand. Despite undergoing successful surgery, the injury leaves him unable to compete in the upcoming Malaysian round. The outcome was a stark contrast to his 2025 Indonesian Grand Prix, where he took victory at the circuit.
Lecuona Continues Stand-In Role at Sepang
With Aldeguer unavailable for Sepang, 2026 WorldSBK runner-up Iker Lecuona will substitute on the #54 machine. Lecuona also served as Aldeguer's replacement at the previous round in Australia.
