Grand Theft Auto VI Crossover at Homestead
Goodyear is teaming up with Rockstar Games to fly a special Grand Theft Auto VI-themed blimp above Homestead-Miami Speedway during NASCAR’s championship weekend. The unexpected crossover brings video game promotion to the stock car sanctioning body's season finale as three national championship titles are decided on the racetrack. The activation connects directly with the anticipated release's fictional setting of Vice City, an environment heavily influenced by Miami and South Florida culture, establishing a physical presence overhead during one of the season's premier racing events.
Custom Vice City Livery and Partnership Details
NASCAR reporter Jeff Gluck shared the announcement on Nov. 3 after Goodyear confirmed the partnership. The company announced that attendees at Homestead-Miami Speedway will see an aircraft featuring a "special Grand Theft Auto VI livery created in collaboration with Rockstar Games" overhead throughout championship weekend, describing the project as a fresh look for one of motorsports’ most recognizable sights. Promotional images reveal a predominantly black aircraft bearing bright pink Vice City lettering along its side, accompanied by yellow accents and Goodyear branding, marking a dramatic change from the familiar Goodyear appearance spectators customarily see overhead at major sporting competitions.
Championship Weekend Schedule and Broadcast
The promotional flight coincides with Homestead-Miami Speedway hosting all three of NASCAR's national series championship deciders across the weekend. Track activity begins with the Craftsman Truck Series title event on Friday, Nov. 6. The O’Reilly Auto Parts Series then crowns its champion on Saturday, Nov. 7, before the Cup Series championship race concludes the season on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 3 p.m. ET on NBC, with championship permutations analysed in Larson Leads NASCAR Championship Scenarios Across Homestead Tripleheader.
Trackside Visibility and Broadcast Appearance
For trackside attendees, the custom aircraft provides a distinct photo opportunity between competitive track sessions across the weekend. Television viewers watching from home may also spot the prominent design, as the distinctive black-and-pink Vice City styling could be difficult to miss if the blimp makes an appearance during network race coverage. While three championship trophies will be contested on the circuit below, NASCAR championship weekend already promises plenty of memorable moments, and thanks to Goodyear and Rockstar Games, one of them might happen hundreds of feet above the racetrack.
