Taupo Opener Launches Repco NextGen NZ Season 3

The event schedule for the opening round of the third Repco NextGen NZ Championship season has been locked in ahead of the bumper meeting at Taupo International Motorsport Park. Operating as the PTS Logistics Season Opener across the November 13–15 weekend, the fixture marks the first of six rounds scheduled for this summer. The scenic circuit, situated near the banks of New Zealand's largest lake and its neighboring town, will host three full days of track activity across seven competitive categories for the Taupo Season Opener.

PTS Logistics Secures Title Partnership

PTS Logistics has joined as the title partner for the November opener, expanding its existing backing across New Zealand motorsport. The company already supports domestic competition through partnerships within the NZ V8 Utes category alongside premier national speedway fixtures around the country. Furthermore, the PTS Logistics transport fleet moves competition cars and technical equipment for both the Repco Supercars Championship and the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Trophy when those series race in New Zealand. PTS Logistics Director Jack Miers noted that supporting the championship was "an easy decision to make," observing that recent growth and its standing as a "true national series" made the championship exactly where the firm wanted to be.

Seven Categories Form Track Roster

The packed Taupo program showcases seven competitive racing categories, spanning close one-make competition, V8 machinery, sports cars, and exotic GT vehicles. The bill features the Summerset GT New Zealand Championship, the Bridgestone GR86 Championship, the SP Tools TA2 Championship, the Nexen Tyre Mazda Racing Super Series, and the NZ Porsche Racing Championship. Rounding out the lineup is GTR NZ, which appears divided into its two regular groupings: GTRNZ 1/2 and GTRNZ 3/4.

Three-Day Track Schedule Confirmed

Track proceedings begin on Friday with practice sessions for all categories, followed later in the afternoon by qualifying for Summerset GT New Zealand. Saturday starts with key qualifying sessions before competitive racing begins, featuring the GTNZ opening contest alongside sprint races for Bridgestone GR86, TA2NZ, Porsche Racing, and both GTRNZ classes. Saturday track action concludes with a 45-minute GTNZ Enduro. Sunday provides further running from 9:00 am until just before 6:00 pm local time, staging sprint races across all categories alongside an additional GTNZ enduro.

Extended Fan Access and Free Friday Entry

Organizers have outlined extensive spectator access across the weekend, beginning with Free Fridays sponsored by Crème Insurance, which offers public admission at zero cost. All fan activities are included within standard General Admission ticket pricing at every round of the championship. These offerings include public pit lane walks available on both Saturday and Sunday, podium celebrations held for every category throughout the weekend, and driver signing sessions on Sunday. In addition, fans will receive access to the track surface moments before green flags wave via scheduled grid walks, arranged on Saturday for SP Tools TA2 New Zealand and on Sunday ahead of the final Summerset GTNZ race.

Advance Ticketing and Event Information

Advance online ticket sales list Saturday access at $42.00, Sunday at $62.00, and a two-day weekend pass at $85.00, with online pre-purchases priced more affordably than gate tickets. Children aged 16 and under receive free admission. Additional details regarding the PTS Logistics Season Opener and the wider Repco NextGen NZ Championship, including broadcast arrangements and official entry lists, will be announced closer to the event, with further updates directed to the championship website and social channels.
