Taupo Opener Launches Six-Round Summer Schedule

The 2026/7 Repco NextGen NZ Championship will commence its summer campaign with the PTS Logistics Season Opener at Taupo International Motorsport Park across the weekend of November 13–15. Serving as the initial fixture of a six-round schedule this summer, the three-day meeting features track competition across seven competitive categories at the scenic circuit, situated near the banks of New Zealand’s largest lake and the scenic town attached to it. PTS Logistics has become title partner for the opening event, which offers a program spanning close one-make racing, V8s, and exotic GT and sports cars.

Seven Competitive Categories Complete Program

The packed competitive program is highlighted by seven distinct categories, featuring the Summerset GT New Zealand Championship, Bridgestone GR86 Championship, SP Tools TA2 Championship, Nexen Tyre Mazda Racing Super Series, and NZ Porsche Racing Championship. In addition, the GTR NZ category completes the lineup, competing in its two regular groups designated as GTRNZ 1/2 and GTRNZ 3/4.

Crème Insurance Free Friday and Weekend Fan Access

Spectator accessibility remains an emphasis of the series, providing attendees access to the stars and cars of the championship. That fan access begins with Free Fridays thanks to Crème Insurance, where public access comes at zero cost. Across Saturday and Sunday, public pit lane walks will be available on both days, alongside Sunday driver signing sessions and podium celebrations conducted for all categories throughout the weekend. Pre-race grid walks are likewise scheduled, allowing fans to access the circuit itself moments before races commence: on Saturday for the SP Tools TA2 New Zealand field, and on Sunday prior to the final Summerset GTNZ race. All elements are included within the price of a General Admission ticket to every round of the Repco NextGen NZ Championship.

Online Ticketing Rates and Gate Pricing Details

Advance tickets booked online begin with Saturday access at $42.00 and Sunday at $62.00, while a two-day weekend ticket is $85.00, offering greater affordability than purchasing tickets at the gate. Children aged 16 and under are admitted free.

Three-Day Timetable From Practice to Sunday Enduro

Track activity begins on Free Friday with practice for all categories, followed by afternoon qualifying for Summerset GT New Zealand. Saturday’s schedule opens with key qualifying sessions, before racing commences with the GTNZ opener and sprint races for Bridgestone GR86, TA2NZ, Porsche Racing, and the two GTRNZ categories. Action on Saturday concludes with a 45-minute GTNZ Enduro. Sunday delivers further racing featuring sprint races for all categories and another GTNZ enduro, with track proceedings commencing at 9:00 am and continuing through to just before 6:00 pm local time that evening.

Broadcast Arrangements and Entry Lists to Follow

More information regarding the PTS Logistics Season Opener and the Repco NextGen NZ Championship—including broadcast details and entry lists—will be announced closer to the event. For further information, fans can visit www.nextgennz.co.nz or follow the championship on socials.
