Latin American Nations Event Set for Cuenca
The city of Cuenca is preparing to become the capital of international motocross as the MX Race Track facility located in Capulispamba hosts a new edition of the Motocross of Latin American Nations. Scheduled for the weekend of November 7 and 8, the regional championship will bring together prominent off-road motorcycle riders from across Latin America. According to organizers, eight national delegations have confirmed their entry: Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Venezuela. The program will feature three primary classes—MX1, MX2, and Open—alongside an integrated Latin American women's competition welcoming competitors from additional foreign countries.
Ecuador Mounts Home Title Defense
Ecuador's national squad faces the sporting challenge with the explicit objective of defending the championship title achieved in 2025 at this very same venue. To accomplish that mission on home soil, the tricolor delegation will field two separate three-rider rosters. The first team features Pedro ‘Piluko’ Suárez in MX1, Ítalo Medina in MX2, and Nicolás Merchán in Open. Ecuador's second lineup consists of Andrés Benenaula, David Cedeño, and Agustín López.
Visiting Contenders and Experienced Entries
Experienced competitors feature among the visiting rivals traveling to Cuenca. Venezuela will contest the meeting with Daniel Bortolín, Alonso Montilla, and Carlos Badiali, with Badiali bringing notable past pedigree as the former MX1 champion from the 2022 edition staged in Peru. In addition, national squads from Costa Rica, Colombia, Bolivia, and Mexico will each present full lineups across all three primary racing categories.
Diverse Field for Continental Women's Category
The women's competition will provide another major attraction of the event. Announced participants include Fernanda Carrillo of Ecuador, Alondra Calmet of Peru, Angelina Vázquez of Mexico, Luanna Martínez of Brazil, Marcela Melgar of Guatemala, María Padilla of Bolivia, Yolimar Oliveros of Panama, and Lucía Casariego of Uruguay.
Circuit Homologation and Track Preparations
Circuit organization and maintenance represent a central operational focus ahead of the weekend. Justiniano Romero, a member of the organizing group, pointed out that significant public spectator attendance is expected for this international fixture, which will return Cuenca to the regional motocross calendar. Because the MX Race Track holds international homologation, advance preparations will concentrate entirely on the comprehensive reshaping of the dirt course without altering established specifications, ensuring its certification remains valid. Maintenance tasks are planned to begin tomorrow, provided weather conditions permit.
Weekend Presentation and Racing Timetable
The presentation of delegations and championship details is scheduled for Friday from 09:30 at KTM Cuenca. Track action begins Saturday with practice sessions and qualifying. Finally, Sunday will feature the decisive races that determine the champions of this edition.
