Perez Commits to Cadillac Through 2029

Sergio Perez will continue racing for Cadillac in Formula 1 through at least the 2029 season following a contract extension announced by the American squad. The timing of the announcement comes on the eve of his home event, the Mexican Grand Prix, where the veteran driver will also celebrate his 300th start in the world championship. Finalising the new deal guarantees Perez's place on the grid with the American outfit across at least the next three seasons.

Commitment to Cadillac's Long-Term Project

Addressing the agreement, Perez explained that committing to Cadillac from its very first day was a project in which he had genuine belief, framing the contract extension as a natural continuation of that opening phase. The Mexican driver highlighted that constructing a Formula 1 organization from the ground up requires significant time, persistent effort, and patience, adding that the collaborative progress achieved so far has been immensely rewarding. Acknowledging that substantial development work remains ahead, Perez stated that he is fully invested in the program for the upcoming three years.

Teaming with Bottas in Debut Season

A winner of six Grands Prix during previous tenures with Racing Point and Red Bull Racing, Perez is paired with Valtteri Bottas for Cadillac's inaugural campaign. Although both veteran drivers have yet to score championship points this season, they have shouldered the early developmental challenges of establishing a new competitor on the grid. Cadillac joined Formula 1 this year backed by Dan Towriss, head of TWG Motorsports, which serves as the parent company running General Motors' grand prix operation.

Mexico City Roadshow and 2027 Seat

Prior to racing in the Mexican Grand Prix this weekend, Perez is scheduled to deliver a street demonstration for his home supporters, driving a previous-generation grand prix car through Mexico City on Wednesday evening to mark Cadillac's first promotional roadshow in Formula 1. Meanwhile, the American team has yet to announce who will partner Perez next season. Bottas reportedly possesses a contractual clause allowing him to remain with Cadillac for 2027, though the outfit has reportedly not yet activated that option.

Sources: Cadillac prolonge Sergio Pérez jusqu’en 2029.
