Pursuit of a Three-Peat
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points leader Kaden Honeycutt is seeking a third consecutive victory in the Krush 250 presented by Rogers Heating & Cooling at South Boston Speedway on Saturday afternoon, November 14. Honeycutt, a Texas native driving for the Tom Usry Racing Team, previously fended off top Late Model Stock Car Division competitors to win the event in each of the past two seasons. While acknowledging the difficulty of securing three straight wins at the venue, Honeycutt assessed the prospect as "very doable."
Overcoming Handling Hurdles
Reflecting on his previous victory in the event, Honeycutt survived two late-race restarts while resisting a strong challenge from former CARS Tour champion Bobby McCarty, ultimately securing the win by a half-second margin. During that contest, Honeycutt encountered handling complications following a tyre change when his car turned tight during a heat cycle before recovering under a subsequent caution restart to conclude an intense final 50 laps. Honeycutt praised the close, clean racing that left neither machine with door marks, stating he hopes to repeat that battle in this year's edition.
Equipment Management and Event Atmosphere
According to Honeycutt, the key to success in the 250-lap race is taking care of equipment. Honeycutt explained that while a competitor can go hard from the beginning, it can really not be worth anything to do so until reaching about halfway through. He also pointed to the overall organisation, strong car counts, and welcoming environment created by event officials as major reasons his team looks forward to returning, noting that he had recently spoken with Ward Burton regarding their previous successes at the track.
Challengers and Prize Fund
A deep field of competitors will challenge Honeycutt in the 250-lap Late Model Stock Car feature. Entrants include NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series driver Jeb Burton of Halifax, Virginia, fellow series competitor and former CARS Tour champion Caden Kvapil, McCarty driving the No. 22 Nelson Motorsports entry, and Jared Fryar wheeling the No. 12 Nelson Motorsports car. The entry list also features South Boston Speedway champion Trevor Ward, Deac McCaskill, Californian racer Chase Burgeson driving for Lee Pulliam Performance, and 2026 Caraway Speedway champion Dylan Ward. The event offers a substantial purse headlined by a $12,000 winner's prize, $1,000 to start, a $1,200 pole award, and $500 bonuses for the leaders of Stages 1 and 2.
Race Format and Weekend Schedule
The Krush 250 is scheduled across three stages, with Stage 1 concluding at or near lap 105 followed by a ten-minute break. Support racing begins with a 25-lap contest by the Southern Ground Pounders Vintage Racing Club. Frontstretch grandstands open at 9:30 a.m. on November 14 alongside Late Model practice, followed by vintage practice at 10:30 a.m. as trackside parking gates open. Single-car qualifying begins at 11:00 a.m., with an on-track driver autograph session scheduled from noon to 1:00 p.m. and pre-race ceremonies commencing at 1:30 p.m. Advance adult general admission tickets are available for $20, with sales benefiting the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation, an outreach and conservation non-profit founded by 2002 Daytona 500 winner Ward Burton.
