CFMoto Introduces 550MT Platform at EICMA 2026
CFMoto has expanded its adventure motorcycle portfolio with the introduction of the 550MT platform at the EICMA 2026 motorcycle show in Milan. Presented during the exhibition's press sessions on November 3 and 4 and outlined in a company announcement published on November 4, the new middleweight family arrives in two distinct configurations: a road-oriented touring 550MT and an off-road-focused 550MT-X. The unveiling arrived as part of a broader exhibition program by the Chinese manufacturer, which also presented the production version of its 997 cc, 90-degree V4-powered V4SR-RR superbike alongside the 125SC-S scooter. This account draws on mundomotor.bike reporting.
526 cc Parallel-Twin Technical Specifications
Both variants are built around a newly developed 526 cc parallel-twin engine. Preliminary technical data published on November 4 by CFMoto's United Kingdom distributor indicates that the powertrain delivers an output of 40 kW (54 hp) at 8,500 rpm paired with 52 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The British distributor emphasized that all released specifications stem from the ongoing development phase and remain subject to modification before retail units enter production. Reporting discrepancies exist across international outlets, with publication Visordown citing an engine displacement of 527 cc against the 526 cc documented by the factory and its UK representative.
Touring-Oriented 550MT Features and Equipment
The touring-focused 550MT is tailored toward long-distance travel, incorporating an 8-inch digital console with Apple CarPlay integration, a large 23-litre fuel tank, and an adjustable seat positioned between 800 mm and 820 mm. Chassis equipment includes an adjustable KYB suspension assembly alongside wheel dimensions reported by specialist outlets as 19 inches front and 17 inches rear. Electronic rider assistance systems include Bosch cornering anti-lock braking and traction control, cruise control, a rear detection radar, keyless smart ignition, and a bi-directional quickshifter. An optional electronic clutch mechanism is also planned, according to details shared by the UK concessionaire and Italian publication inSella. Dry weight and ground clearance figures for the touring trim have not yet been disclosed.
Off-Road Architecture of the 550MT-X
In contrast, the 550MT-X adopts a specialized off-road architecture built around a 172 kg dry weight and a 16-litre fuel cell. It features wire-spoked wheels measuring 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear, combined with 250 mm of ground clearance and long-travel KYB adjustable suspension delivering 230 mm of front stroke and 220 mm at the rear. Additional hardware includes a vertically arranged 6.2-inch dashboard and an 850 mm saddle, alongside an optional low-seat alternative measuring 830 mm. Its off-road riding mode permits riders to disengage both rear-wheel ABS and traction control. While Visordown reported a ready-to-ride kerb weight of 183 kg for the MT-X, CFMoto has not published road-ready fluid-inclusive weights.
Market Positioning and Comparative Benchmarks
Development benchmarks place the 550MT-X between CFMoto's smaller 449 cc 450MT and its larger 91 hp 800MT-ES. Compared to local Colombian market specifications for the 450MT, the development figures represent an increase of 11.9 hp (28 percent) and a 3 kg reduction in dry weight. However, direct comparisons against market rivals such as the 47 hp Honda NX500 (199 kg kerb) and the 40 hp Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 (198 kg kerb) remain incomplete, as competitor specifications cite road-ready weights whereas CFMoto exclusively published dry figures.
Production Status and Commercial Availability
CFMoto has not announced retail prices or commercial delivery schedules across European, Chinese, or global territories. The UK distributor lists commercial pricing as pending determination. Similarly, no launch dates or local pricing have been announced for the Colombian market, where the brand operates through Autocolombiana. Although the importer showcased other models at the Expo2Ruedas 2026 event, neither its web portal nor CFMoto Colombia had added listings for the 550MT, V4SR-RR, or 125SC-S as of November 5.
